Practical Travel Tips

Everything you need to know for a smooth trip in Albania.

Currency & Payments

Albania uses the Lek (ALL). Euros are widely accepted in tourist areas but you'll get better rates in Lek. ATMs are everywhere in cities. Card payments are growing but carry cash for smaller places.

Food & Drink

Try byrek (savory pastry), tavë kosi (baked lamb with yoghurt), and fresh seafood along the coast. Albanian coffee culture is huge — enjoy a macchiato at any café. Raki is the traditional spirit, often offered as a welcome drink.

Best Time to Visit

June to September for beaches and warm weather. May and October offer pleasant temperatures with fewer crowds. Tirana and Berat are great year-round. Book airport transfers in advance during peak season (July-August).

Getting Around

For comfort and reliability, pre-book a taxi with MapTaxi. Public transport (furgons) exists but schedules are unpredictable. Roads to the Riviera are winding — sit back and let an experienced driver handle it!
