Top Destinations
Places you must visit — and we can take you to all of them.
Durrës
Albania's second-largest city and a major port. Explore the ancient amphitheatre (one of the largest in the Balkans), the Byzantine Forum, Venetian Tower, and beautiful beaches along the coast. The promenade is perfect for evening strolls.
Tirana
The vibrant capital city with colorful buildings, bustling cafés, and the iconic Skanderbeg Square. Visit Bunk'Art museums, take the cable car up Dajti Mountain, and explore the trendy Blloku district.
Dhërmi & Palasë
Two of the most stunning beaches on the Albanian Riviera. Crystal-clear turquoise waters, dramatic cliffs, and a laid-back atmosphere. Dhërmi village sits high above with panoramic sea views.
Ksamil
Often compared to the Maldives, Ksamil has pristine white-sand beaches and incredibly clear water. The small islands offshore are reachable by paddleboard or boat. Nearby Butrint National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Vlorë & Karaburun
Where the Adriatic meets the Ionian Sea. Vlorë is the gateway to the Albanian Riviera. Take a boat trip to Karaburun Peninsula and Sazan Island — a former military base turned nature reserve.
Berat
The 'City of a Thousand Windows' — a UNESCO World Heritage Site with stunning Ottoman architecture. The castle quarter (Kalaja) is still inhabited and offers breathtaking views over the Osum River valley.
Practical Travel Tips
Everything you need to know for a smooth trip in Albania.
Currency & Payments
Albania uses the Lek (ALL). Euros are widely accepted in tourist areas but you'll get better rates in Lek. ATMs are everywhere in cities. Card payments are growing but carry cash for smaller places.
Food & Drink
Try byrek (savory pastry), tavë kosi (baked lamb with yoghurt), and fresh seafood along the coast. Albanian coffee culture is huge — enjoy a macchiato at any café. Raki is the traditional spirit, often offered as a welcome drink.
Best Time to Visit
June to September for beaches and warm weather. May and October offer pleasant temperatures with fewer crowds. Tirana and Berat are great year-round. Book airport transfers in advance during peak season (July-August).
Getting Around
For comfort and reliability, pre-book a taxi with MapTaxi. Public transport (furgons) exists but schedules are unpredictable. Roads to the Riviera are winding — sit back and let an experienced driver handle it!
